Ed was a great friend, and a wonderful man.  He was the leader of the Tampa Stamp Collectors Club for decades, and he will be greatly missed by all of us at the Life Enrichment Center.  We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and Stamp Club members- especially Sheldon Rogg.  We will miss his smile!

Eddie and I go back to Readiness Command where he was a valuable member of Gen Sam Wakefield’s J-4 staff. Sam told me on more than one occasion how much he depended on Ed when it came to USAF logistics. We were also members of the Classic when the low score was the goat for the next week. Both of us had that honor frequently. When Eddie retired after a great career , I remember he gave his wife Patti a diamond tennis bracelet. I will never forget the looks of love between the two of them. As the TV ad says, it was a priceless moment. Well, done , Ed, my old friend. You served the Air Force and the nation in an outstanding manner. Rest In Peace. Bill Klein, MG, USA. ret

We are so sorry  to hear of Ed's passing.  Our paths crossed in Europe and then again in Tampa.  He was a wonderful person to work for and with.  While he had a knack for getting the job done it was always with a great sense of humor.  We really enjoyed playing golf and had may good times.

My memories of Ed also date back to the early 70s and our assignment to the Air Staff at the Pentagon (actually at Bolling AFB).  He was always the consumate professional - but also always had a smile and good word for everyone.  We carpooled during the "gas shortage" and relocated to Site "R" during command post exercises.  We also later, with others and our wives, spent a long weekend there on the 9 hole golf course.  Bonnie and I wish comfort and healing for the family - know that he was loved by many others.

Ed Lyons was one of the most positive and helpful officers I knew during our Pentagon times.  My memory of him is of someone with a smile and a willingness to get the job done.  He was a true professional and extremely well respected by all who knew him.  May God bless his family and close friends and may the Peace everyone needs at the time of great loss come in the days ahead when and where it is needed.

Despite his sometimes grouchy facade, Eddie was one of the most generous, genuine, caring and compassionate people I have ever known. I'll truly miss being with him at ball games, the golf course, both horse and dog tracks, and last but, not least, the poker table---maybe(because he always went home with some of my money.
