W.T. was born in Huntington, West Virginia to Rev. Herbert and Leah Ward on January 30th, 1927. He proudly served his country, first, in the Navy in World War II, and later, as a member of the Air Force during the Korean War. After settling in Tampa, he saw the need for student housing around the USF campus. This began his career as a real estate developer at Ward Properties. Always eager to see Tampa grow and prosper, he built many apartments and offices in the area, and later expanded his work to Orlando. As a member of First Baptist Church, he faithfully served. He was a Life Director of the National Association of Home Builders and Presidents Counsel Member at USF.
Survived by his wife of 37 years, Marcia, son, Dennis Sprow (Michelle), daughters, Cathy Smith, Christine Dose, and Karen Randazzo, 12 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by his first wife, Betty Jean, and sons, Donald and David. Survived by his granddaughter Joie Ward Brothers, 2 great granddaughters, Tinsley and Marley, his brothers, Homer, Wes, and Whit Ward, sister, Violet Bistany, and several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with W.T.'s generous spirit of always helping others, a donation to Metropolitan Ministries or a charity of your choice in his name would be appreciated. There was a private memorial service.
