Gerald, “Jerry,” Crinion, Jr., 72, of Tampa, Florida, died Saturday, September 26. He was born on Sept. 30, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan. Gerald was the son of Dorothy and Gerald, Sr., and the oldest of three children. Gerald served in the Special Forces in Viet Nam from 1961 - 1967, with honorable discharge, and in the U.S. Army Reserves with the 70th Division from 1988 - 1996 where he trained troops serving in Desert Storm. Jerry was an avid hockey and football fan, and a devotee of the Detroit Red Wings and Michigan State University football teams. He enjoyed reading, particularly about history, the military, and U.S. politics. Jerry is pre-deceased by his wife of 30 years, Carol, and his parents, Gerald, Sr. and Dorothy. He is survived by his daughters Danielle Doane and Colleen Crinion, granddaughters Brittnay Doane and Paige Doane, and sisters Karen Davis and Roberta Barnhill. Services will be held at Blount and Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood, 3207 W. Bearss Ave.,Tampa, FL on September 30 at 10:00 am. For those wishing to contribute, the family asks that donations be made to the American Legion Post 152, of which he was a member, or to the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
