She was born in Augusta, Georgia, the daughter of Chris Addison and Deanie West. She was raised and educated in Tampa, Florida where she met the love of her life. In 1966, she was married to Ken Gillett and had two children.
Mrs. Gillett and her beloved husband moved to Albany, Georgia where she was employed as a Contract Manager at Addison Steel Company. Glenda was an animal enthusiast and began her own farm on her property where she cared for many animals of all types-from kittens to puppies, ducks to chickens, donkeys to llama and goats. One of her most adored animals was her pig Wilbur.
Later in life Glenda dedicated her time and attention to her family including her mother and three grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carol Barber. She leaves behind Ken W Gillett, her beloved husband of 52 years, daughter Doreen Desin, son Kenny Gillett, her siblings Debbie Poplawski, Barbara Jean Schuch, Marilyn Brooks, Nicole Addison, Anna Addison, Jim West, Chris Addison and her grandchildren Morgan Gillett, Lee Gillett, and Kendall Desin, and great granddaughter Ryleigh Gillett.
A Life Celebration will be held from 1pm-3pm, Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home at the Garden of Memories, 4207 E. Lake Ave., Tampa, FL 33610.
