It has been hard missing her these last few months. Abuela took care of me, always tried to make us laugh, and always kept us well-fed. She was the most genuinely good person I’ve met, and the most selfless. Even when exhausted or after a hard day, she loved to bring joy to others. She was adventurous and always up for new things, and I treasure all the memories we shared. I miss you, still, each and every day. Bendición, abuela. 

My beloved Abuela, it’s so sad that you had to leave us so soon. I got so upset when I got the unfortunate news of her passing not only because she’s my abuela but because she was such a happy person. Her happiness was so contagious that she made me happy every time I was around her. I remember we went to New York one summer, I was about 10 years old. We had a great time and she introduced me to some family on my father’s side. I will never forget that summer; she was so funny too, during this trip she accidentally put salt in her coffee instead of sugar and laughed at herself when she told me about it. She was so caring and loving, I still miss spending the summers with her as a kid. Her personality will forever impact me as a person and her legacy & smile will remain in a special place in my heart. Rest In Peace abuela, you will always be loved & remembered. 

My mom loved titi Hilda so much. She always spoke so highly of her. Its a good feeling to know they will be together now.  My heart goes out to my cousins and their children. You are always in my thoughts no matter how many miles apart we are.

Solo te puedo dar las gracias. Tuve la dicha ser tu hijo, de que me guiaras por mis primeros pasos, y me educaras en mis primeras palabras. Me cuidaste cuando estuve enfermo y me hacías sonreír cuando estaba serio o triste. Siempre recordaré el cometa de papel que me hiciste para que volara desde el balcón pues estaba mirando a mis hermanos y vecinos volando cometas en el vecindario, pero sabías que en el momento no podías ir a comprarme uno. Es una de las memorias más alegres y que con más amor guardo.

Intentaré emularte enfrentando los días con humildad, esmero y dedicación. Enfrentando los retos con precaución, pero de frente y con perseverancia; estando presente cuando me necesiten, o solo para dar apoyo; dando una palmada en la espalda, una caricia en la cabeza, una sonrisa; pero firme con lo que sea injusto o este fuera de los valores que me enseñaste.

Siempre recordare todo lo que hiciste por mí y por todos los seres que amaste. Fue tan hermoso tenerte que verte partir me desgarra. Me enseñaste que todo tiene su momento y también que en la vida todo acaba. Aunque llevo años que no te tengo tan cerca como hubiese querido, no voy a ser capaz de acostumbrarme a tu ausencia.

My Titi Hilda was there when I was born and has been there for me ever since.  Titi raised me and helped shape my life. I'm very saddened by her passing and by my inability to be there with family to share their grief.  I will never forget you,  Titi and what you meant to me.
