Ivonne Durand passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on March 16, 1956, in Abington, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, and was the fourth of nine children. Growing up in a large, lively family shaped her generous heart and joyful spirit.
During her time living in Puerto Rico, a chance encounter led her to meet Ray, the love of her life. Their relationship blossomed, and together they built a beautiful life—traveling the world during Ray’s Air Force career and welcoming two beloved daughters, Lisa and Cecile.
A lifelong learner, Ivonne valued education deeply. She earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Phoenix, reflecting her determination and love of knowledge.
Her adventurous spirit shined through her passion for travel. Once she discovered cruising, she was hooked—embarking on an incredible 34 cruises that took her throughout the Caribbean, Mexico, and Europe.
While Ivonne was proud of her many accomplishments, nothing brought her more joy than being “Abuela” to her granddaughter, Bella. The bond they shared was one of her greatest blessings and the light of her life.
Ivonne was truly a Renaissance woman. Throughout her life, she embraced many roles with enthusiasm and grace—working in the linen section of a department store, at a child care center, McDonald’s, and Sears; serving as a bank teller, classified pouch courier, post office clerk, teacher’s assistant, yearbook coordinator, and Community Liaison Officer at two U.S. embassies. In her diplomatic work, she had the opportunity to meet presidents, senators, congressmen, and their spouses—experiences that reflected her zest for life and ability to connect with anyone she met.
Though her later years were challenged by illness, Ivonne’s courage, strength, and warmth never faded. She faced every day with grace and love, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Ivonne will be deeply missed by her family, neighbors, and the many friends she made throughout her remarkable life.
Ivonne, you will be missed dearly. We love you, and you will never be forgotten.
