JANE KATHLEEN (MCSHANE) STEFFENS, born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 21, 1929, to the late Edward and Marian McShane, Jane passed away peacefully on November 23, 2025. She will leave behind a legacy of devotion to her family, laughter, joy and a deep faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William M. “Bill” Steffens and her eldest son W. Michael “Mike” Steffens. She is survived by her children Jan (Randy) Wick, Terri (Jeff) Harris, Joe (Stephanie) Steffens, Nora (Pat) Perez, and John (Anna) Steffens. She was a loving grandmother to Shannon Wick, Kevin Wick, Ben (Anna) Harris, Matthew (Kalyah Ford)) Harris, Ryan Getchell, Micaela (Josh) Church and Lucas Getchell. She also leaves three great grandchildren; McKenna Kummer, Elin Kummer, and Miles Harris. She is survived by her sister Dolores (Bill) Thomas and was preceded in death by siblings Jack (Erma) McShane, Betty Ann (Paul) Motz, and Camilla Donavon.
Jane’s faith was the foundation of her life and guided her in all she did. She cherished her role as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and put them all at the center of her life even while balancing a twenty-five year career following the entrance of her youngest child to first grade.
Jane and Bill loved adventure. Throughout their marriage, they lived in Columbus, Ohio; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Scottsdale, Arizona; San Francisco, California; Thousand Oaks, California; and finally Tampa, Florida. They loved to go camping and instilled their children with a love of nature and the outdoors. It must have been hard with their six young and growing children. When asked years later if it was difficult to be far from her own family and moving across country with six children, she simply said “I loved every minute of it!”
Jane will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her devoted faith, her endless and perfect delivery of puns, but most of all for her love of her family. She was truly a remarkable person who loved her Irish heritage and telling stories of the hardships and joys of her youth. She will be missed beyond words.
