

Janice Rose McMorrow, “Jany”, 96, of Tampa, FL. passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025. Born in Rockland, Massachusetts on July 26, 1929, to John and Jennie McMorrow, Janice lived a life defined by service, friendship, and adventure.
A proud veteran and dedicated leader, Janice served her country with distinction as a Captain in the United States Navy, where she built an exemplary career spanning more than 30 years. Her service took her all over the world, and she cherished the opportunity to travel, experience new cultures, and represent her country abroad. Throughout her career, she earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal, among other honors, recognizing her unwavering commitment and exceptional service.
Beyond her military career, Janice was known for her vibrant personality and love of life’s simple pleasures. She never turned down a slice of pizza or a scoop of chocolate ice cream, and she delighted in outings to Outback Steakhouse. Janice enjoyed getting her nails done, browsing the mall, and finding the perfect outfit at Macy’s. She especially treasured time spent with her many friends, who knew her as loyal, kind, and full of life.
Janice will be remembered as a remarkable woman—a dedicated officer, a world traveler, and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. Her warmth, humor, and generous spirit will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
She was predeceased in death by her parents, John and Jennie; sister, Elizabeth; two brothers, John and Leo.
