Summers, Joe W., 78, of Tampa passed away October 22, 2016. He was born January 10, 1938 and raised in Cape Girardeau, MO the youngest of three children of John Doyle Summers and Geraldine Dixon Summers. After high school he served in the Marine Corps. He came to Orlando, FL in 1959 where he met his future wife. He and Patricia (Patti) Walker were married November 20, 1960. He began his career selling insurance working for Gulf Life and National Standard for a total of 38 years until he retired in 1999. He always loved children and volunteered his time over the years coaching girls’ softball and tutoring students at Lake Magdalene Elementary School. The sport he dearly loved was tennis, and he played it as long and often as he could. He leaves behind his wife, Patti; daughter, Cindy (David); son, Chris (Toni); grandchildren, Ashley, Adam and Megan; great grandchild, Mayah.
