It has been 1 year since your passing to Heaven and I miss you just as much today and think of you often. You were the best brother ever.

This one for my buddy John. Thank you for all the inspiration, the know how, the good laughs, and above all else for being a good friend and neighbor. From your buddy Bobby. You were supposed to guide our way through old age together but we'll meet again, god willing. To one of the best people I've known.

Thank you John for being there for Bobby and Deloris  when we  need any advice or know how. To one of the most sincere men who walked the walk and talked the talk. I think about you everyday in the garage keeping Bobby out of trouble thank you for the laughs and the sincere friendship. Thank you for taking care of the community and all of us. You are a special kind of person. Everything you did seemed to come from your heart, it's been a blessing knowing you. And thank your mom for giving you to us.

I was shocked to hear the news of Johnny's homegoing but glad I was  able to attend his service today. I have such wonderful memories of him.  I will never forget a couple of years ago when he was in Tampa when he came with Arlene and Rene to our house to  pick up some pecans.  My husband and I had a most enjoyable  visit with him.  I think he also enjoyed the visit.  We had a good time talking.  My prayers go out to his children and the rest of his family. He is in a much better place awaiting the rest of his family.  God Bless All of You.

Although technically, John was not an in-law. Being the brother of my brother's wife, I had always thought of him as such. And he'd always made me feel like family! He was a wonderful human being especially as I got to know him over the years. Exceptional family man. Made family the focal point of his life. Along with the other of his highest priorities of faith & patriotism. As I have observed on this site all of the blessed memories posted with family, I am reminded of the times prior when I was in attendance at these family gatherings and how precious those memories are to me also. I am also glad that before his passing, John was able to make the pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel. And was able to share with us upon his return the narrative of his trip complete with visuals. I was enthralled with his enthusiastic portrayal  of each destination. His infectious enthusiasm made me wish I had gone too. I will always remember John being animated and always engaged. He never took life for granted and went out and met it head on. He stayed engaged at all levels weather involving faith, family or country! You knew where he stood at all times as he was not one to cloud any issue. While I grieve with the family for their/our loss, there are so many wonderful and blessed times to be grateful for that we all had with him. So many of them posted on this site! And to God be the glory for all of them. And I'm sure he was greeted shortly after he was called home with, "Well Done, Good and Faithful Servant, Welcome Home!" Our continued prayers and thoughts & Love abide with the family! John will remain in our hearts until that great and glorious day when we are all reunited again in heaven! God Bless!

As my knowing of John was not long I truly enjoyed getting to know him while he was purchasing his home in Jeannette.  I remember one of the first houses I showed him just sitting on the front steps and  talking.  He has a lot of great stories and stuck me as such a kind person

We met on a plane for an assignment to Rhein-Main Air Base Germany.  We lived near each other in the small German village Klein Gerau.  John had a Ford Mustang and its heater was broken.  In the winter he would use cans of Sterno to keep warm.  Also, on our trip to Italy we travelled in a orange Chevy Chevette.  We toured the Adriatic Coast cities of Rimini and Riccone. It was a wonderful time! He was a great friend and patriot.  Fortunately, he came to visit a few years ago and we reminisced on on military days.  We will miss you John!

I remember working at the Hermitage Office Depot opening with John. We received so many trucks of merchandise. John was a great leader and role model. You will be missed. 

John was a wonderfully kind, well spoken and intelligent man. I always felt so honored when he came to me for advice or, shared his concerns with me because, honestly, I felt there was nothing I could add of value to what he already knew. His was a treasured friendship and the loss of him tragic and sad. I will remember and miss him always. Rest in peace, Dear One.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Paul Wheelus;mother, Lillian Browder-Wheelus.
Survivors include his sister, Lillian Arlene (René) Llanes; children, John Paul(Leah) Wheelus III, Jenna (Jan) Mason, David Dillman, Danny (Jen) Dillman, Dawn Dillman; eight grandchildren, Samantha, Brendan, Logan, Maggie, Nora, Riley, John IV “Poppy”, and Benjamin.
