
Joe was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left a lasting impact with his kindness, adventurous spirit, and sense of humor. His charisma, compassion and wisdom touched the lives of many.
Joe met his beloved wife, Pat, while flying to Florida for work with the Florida Department of Citrus. Pat, a stewardess stationed in Miami, became the love of his life. Their first date was in Miami, leading to their union in June of 1954. Together, they built a family with four children: Jody, Kevin, Mark and Linda.
Joe's career in the citrus industry was distinguished and marked by significant achievements. Serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Citrus World for 15 years, he dedicated 25 years to the company. Post-retirement in November 1993, he continued to contribute as Sr. Vice-President and consultant to Florida’s Natural Growers until 2001. In 2008, Joe's significant contributions were recognized with his induction into the Florida Citrus Hall of Fame.
Beyond his career, Joe shone as a devoted father, loving husband, and cherished friend. His passion for travel became a lifelong pursuit which he shared with his children and ten grandchildren who were fortunate enough to explore the world with him and Pat. Fondly remembered for his unwavering love, warmth, and profound impact on the lives of those he encountered, Joe leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration.
Joe is survived by his wife Bertha “Pat” Marshburn and children Jody, Kevin, Mark, and Linda.
