Born on June 5, 1934, in Winter Haven, Florida, Larry grew up surrounded by the love of his parents, Charles and Margaret Seymour. His early adulthood brought him great joy with the birth of his two beloved sons, Dale and Shawn, from his first marriage to Ida. Larry later remarried, joining his life with Elizabeth on February 25, 1972, in Joliet, Illinois. Together they built a steady, supportive home for their three daughters.
Larry spent more than 50 years working as a Purchasing Agent and Procurement Specialist in the oil and gas industry, where he was respected for his integrity, dedication, and steady presence. Before his long professional career, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during the Korean War era. His service included time in the Bikini Islands and Enewetak Atolls, for which he was later honored with the Atomic Veterans medal—a recognition he deeply cherished.
Beyond his work and service, Larry enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He took interest in travel and kept his camera around his neck to capture his adventures. Larry held a passion for family history. He became the family’s devoted historian, spending years traveling, photographing, researching, and preserving stories so future generations would know where they came from. His curiosity, patience, and love for his roots will remain a treasured legacy.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Charles.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; his children Larry "Dale" Seymour, Jr., Shawn Seymour, Ann Seymour, Jenny Seymour Dixon, and Amy Seymour Elliott; his grandchildren Austin Seymour, Aaron Seymour, Amanda Seymour Garrett, Hannah Pearson, and Andrew Pearson; and his great-grandchildren William Seymour, Noah Seymour, Jacob Seymour, Aiden Garrett, and Dewey Garrett. Each of them carries a piece of his spirit—his steadiness, his humor, his gentle heart.
Larry’s warmth, loyalty, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
