Apostle Louis was born in Havana, Cuba, to Maximino and Coralia Capdevila on May 29, 1957. He was married to his beloved wife, Anita, for 45 years. Together, they raised three children and were blessed with seven grandchildren.
He attended Jefferson High School and graduated from Gospel Crusade Ministerial Fellowship in Bradenton, Florida. Apostle Louis was the owner of La Teresita Restaurant Inc. for 59 years. He served as President of The King's Ministries International in Tampa until his passing and faithfully pastored the ministry for over 25 years. His work extended far beyond the local community, impacting lives across Tampa Bay and around the world—including Pakistan, India, Colombia, Cuba, and throughout the United States—through missions and the establishment of churches.
Apostle Louis will be remembered for his warm heart, infectious smile and laughter, and the countless lives he touched through his love, ministry, and generous giving. He cherished seeking the presence of God, reading, writing, listening to worship music, traveling, and spending quality time with his wife, family, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends.
“He had the heart of a lion, soared like an eagle, and truly loved unconditionally like Jesus.”
Over the years, Apostle Louis received numerous honors and recognitions, including:
A Commendation from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners in 2023; a Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joseph R. Biden Jr. in 2023; a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Everest University in 2015; Vice Presidency and Apostleship from Casa Del Joven, awarded by Bishop Bobby Cruz Sr. in Miami, Florida, in 1993; a Doctorate of Divinity and Theology from Faith Outreach Theological Seminary in 2004; the A. Lennard Award for Outstanding Service from Lighthouse Ministries International in 2015; the Candlelight HOPE Award from Blessed Hope Bible College in 2006; the Prepare His Way Founders Award in 1983—and many more.
He was actively involved in many charitable and faith-based initiatives including Lighthouse Gospel Mission and Faith Home Board, drug rehabilitation programs, feeding and clothing ministries, and immigrant outreach. He also supported school programs such as the Great American Teach-In, served in prison ministry, and contributed to local churches and civic organizations such as the Hispanic Republican Club of Hillsborough County and the Cuban Sandwich Festivals.
Apostle Louis authored more than eleven books and was a recognized radio and television personality. He shined brilliantly, laughed joyfully, gave selflessly without expecting anything in return, and was loved by many. He will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Maximino Capdevila Sr., George Capdevila, and Maximino Capdevila Jr.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Anita Capdevila; his children, Daniel and Yenly Capdevila, Nicole and Jose Hernandez, and Justin Capdevila; his brother and sister-in-law, Alberto and Chery Capdevila; and his mother, Coralia Capdevila. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Briana, Analis, Alena, JJ, Amilea Hernandez, Lex, and Luna Capdevila. Pedro O’Campo, who was like a brother to him, also survives him.
