Marian Angela Howcroft

Marian Angela Howcroft, age 89, of Tampa, Florida peacefully passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023. In the last days her creative soul was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, heroic medical staff and much loved music. Deep love and gratitude is extended to her eldest daughter Kim Caro, who was her advocate and angel on Earth as she cared for Marian during the nine years + we navigated dementia together.

Marian born on January 25th 1934, in Tampa Florida, and was the second eldest daughter of Larry (Hillary) and Pearl (Gouley) Koplinksi. She is survived by her youngest sister Roseanne Ricketts. She was also sister to Margaret Roberts and Evelyn Crandall. Marian is survived by her children and their spouses; Kevan & Mary Sheridan, Kim and Joseph Caro, Greg Sheridan and Tara Rayburn. Her grandchildren are Brooke and Logan Sheridan, Dominic and Alexandra Caro, Kaitlyn, Meaghan, Aaron and Shannon Sheridan, Seneca and Zach Rayburn, Michelle & Jay Hominsky, Marcia and Jeff Morris, Cathy and Matt Goodwin. Great grandchildren and their spouses: Jessica and Ryan, Joey, Jennifer and Matt, Josh, Justin, Tyler, Melissa Julia, and Chelsea (deceased). She also has many loved nieces and nephews scattered around the globe.

Marian had a lifelong passion for art, theater, dance, music, the beach, card playing, crossword puzzles, National Geographic and engaged in these areas into her 80’s. She was married to Phillip Sheridan (father of her 4 children) and later married Leon Howcroft and gained a son Gary Howcroft who gave priceless longevity to Marian.

Marian’s family would like to encourage you all that even in the face of a ruthless diagnosis, there are precious gifts in the process and memories to be made. During the years Marian navigated dementia life still continued, relationships gained new dimensions and we all forged unfathomable growth. While her friends and family were unable to change her outcome, she has changed our outcomes in so many ways. We are stronger. Our bonds with each other are deeper and our lives are better for having navigated these waters together. Thank you Marian, Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt.

For those who are able to join us this Friday August 21st at 10am, we will hold a visitation and at 11am a memorial service at Blount & Curry Funeral Home - Carrollwood, 3207 W. Bearss Ave, Tampa, Florida 33618. For those who cannot attend we will not have an official livestream, but will have a beach celebration in the Spring of 2024. Stay in touch for details.

A visitation for Marian will be held Friday, August 25, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Blount & Curry FH-Carrollwood, 3207 W Bearss Ave, Tampa, FL 33618, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
