Nina H Godley, mother and best friend to Debi Pridgen, passed away on July 20, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Her final days were spent in peace and comfort at the Melech Hospice House in Tampa, FL.
Nina was born Nina Ovileen Housand, May 06,1934, in Mullins, South Carolina, to Jerome R and Lutie Phillips Housand. She was one of eight children. She was raised in a Christian home, with strong faith, and moral values, which she retained all her life.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 43 years, John C Godley, and his son Michael, as well as her parents and six of her siblings.
Nina was an independent woman and remained ‘spunky’ to the end. She was known for her grace, personal and spiritual strength, and her sense of humor. Nina’s family asks that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life and not the sadness of her passing.
She is survived by her daughter, Debi Pridgen, John’s children, Steve Godley (Kathy), Sandra Parlett (Ron) and Becky Nicholson, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and one great, great, grandchild. She is also survived by her brother, Walter Housand, and numerous nieces and nephews.
