Paul Charles Clarke Jr.

Paul C. Clarke, Jr was born on September 1, 1923 to Paul C. Clarke, Sr. and Betty Fleming in Morganton, NC. He was married to Mary V. Tate in 1946 for over 50 years. To this union they were blessed with two children Carolyn Y. Clarke of Newark, NJ and Ronald A. Clarke, Sr. of Newark, NJ.

Paul was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary V. Tate; son, Ronald A. Clarke, Sr; Siblings, Elizabeth Clarke Avery, Ruth Clarke Forney and Edward “Tootie” Clarke.

Shortly after retirement to Tampa, FL, Mr. Clarke became united with Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tampa, FL where he became an active member of the church and served as Head Elder for many years for over 15 years.

Mr. Clarke was an avid golfer with the Stouffer’s Gulf Club in Newark, NJ where he served as a director and member. Therefore, he retired in Tampa, FL and became a member of “Par And Bogie Golf Club, Rogers, Park in Tampa 1994.

Mr. Clarke is survived by his current wife, Clarencetta Clarke; daughter, Carolyn Y. Clarke of Newark, NJ; seven grandchildren, Avia Jacobs of Newark, NJ, Ronald A. Clarke, Jr. (Cynthia) of Richmond, VA, Rodney Clarke (Candecia) of Willing Boro, NC, Malorie Clarke Cameron, Taylor Clarke Cameron, both of Belleville, NJ, Tazahane Clarke of Richmond, VA, and Joy A. Clarke of Union, NC; two nephews, John Avery (Yvonne) of Sulfux, VA and Bob Avery; step children, Antonio Johnson, LaVette Johnson, Larry Johnson, and other members of the Johnson family of Tampa, FL; great grandchildren, Brielle M. Jacobs, Madison B. Jacobs, Kierstin B. Jacobs, Gensis D. Clarke, Eden S. Clarke, Zorida Martin, and Zayela Martin; step grandchildren, Anicia Johnson, Charne’Qua Harris, Zhane’ Johnson, Shaylah Johnson, Noah Johnson, Jonah Johnson, Veronica Johnson, and Zachary Johnson; step-great-grandchildren, Anias Campbell, Chassidi Harris, and Jamari Johnson; and a host of other family and friends of the Tate family from Morganton, NC.

There will be an honorary internment at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL on January 8, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
