On June 3, 2020 Sandra Lynn Starker took her journey home and is now at peace with the Lord Jesus, and her Nanny and Pop Pop. She is free from all of her pain and suffering she has endured over the years from her numerous debilitating medical conditions . Sandy will be greatly missed. She is survived by her mother Lynda and stepfather Nicholas Orselli, her father Russell Starker and wife Carol. Her brother Greg and wife Karen Starker and nieces Kimberly and Riley. Her Aunt Shelley and uncle Greg Daw along with cousins Stacey Levesque and Gregory Daw. Also Nicholas 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Sandy was a fighter. She entered this world as a premi, weighing only 2 pounds 4 ozs. in 1968. She survived cancer, a brain tumor at 8 and another at 21, retinal hemorrhaging, dystonia, Wagners Vaculities Auto-immune Disease, which affected her lungs the first time and kidneys the second time, and diminished blood flow to the brain. Though it all she never gave up, her body gave out.
Sandy loved the lord Jesus and was active in all of the churches she attended. Sandy was a member of the First Reformed Church in Tampa Fl. She especially enjoyed the special needs services she attended at Friends to Friends Community church in NJ where she was in the choir and participated in all of their activities. In Florida she attended Joys at St. James Methodist church and had many wonderful friends there. She loved church camp and went for many years to Camp Sunrise at the Warwick Center in Warwick NY and camp Pioneer in FL. She led an active life for many years.
She was involved in many special needs activities from the adult class at Caminiti Exceptional Center, tap dancing at Dance Makers, going places with the Friendship Club and of course her therapeutic horseback riding in both NJ and then in Florida at Quantum Leap Farms in Odessa. She loved being on a horse and won many blue ribbons in NJ, all of which she was very proud.
Her passion was making latch hook rugs and giving them to family and friends for the holidays. When her eye sight went it was very hard on her when she could no longer do all of the activities she had participated in. This included all of her activity books, puzzles, as well as reading. She still was able to listen to her books on tape.
She was also very passionate about her love for animals. She was an environmentalist and was so upset about the killings of animals and the destruction of their habitats.
Sandy had a smile that would light up any room, and a laugh so beautiful, there's no way you wouldn't join in. Anyone who knew her, knows how sweet she was. She always enjoyed her family and friends time, and after spending some time having long conversations with her, you'd leave feeling such joy from her sweet soul. While with family and friends, she enjoyed singing, going to zoos, gardens, parks and aquariums, and taking walks while counting airplanes overhead. She loved to participate in every holiday tradition: such as carving pumpkins, baking Christmas cookies, dying Easter eggs and watching the parade and fireworks on the 4th of July. She just loved being with people.
Due to COVID-19 we will be planning a Memorial Service for her sometime in August here in Florida and later in NJ.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking you to send a donation in her name to Quantum Leap Farms Inc, 10504 Woodstock Road Odessa Fl 33556, for all of there care for Sandy, over the 17 years she rode there.
