

Wayne Douglas Taylor, 75, of Tampa, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2022. He was with his two daughters Christine Taylor Pence and Cheryl Taylor Schurecht. The viewing will be held Tuesday, September 27 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home-Carrollwood from 11am-1pm located at 3207 W. Bearss Ave. Tampa, FL. 33618. Graveside burial will follow the viewing at Tampa Garden of Memories. All are welcome to join.
Wayne was born November 2, 1946 in Fort Monmouth, NJ. He is the son of Harley Andrew Taylor and Christine Florence Wagner. He was a graduate of Clearwater High School and the University of South Florida. He taught Chemistry, Physics, Calculus and Micro Computers (one of the first computer classes taught in high school on a TRS computer) at Land O’Lakes High School in Pasco County for 30+ years. After retiring, he began working at the Pasco County School Board as a programmer. In addition to teaching, he was also the proud owner of the Glass Shoppe, where he is known for his stained glass master pieces. He was a great friend and mentor and has mentored people with stained glass all over the U.S. He was always sending his friends patterns for various stained glass projects. He enjoyed roller blading and when he wasn’t physically able to do that anymore, he picked up power walking. He was a Ford Mustang enthusiast and member of the Mustang club. He was always participating in car shows showing off his latest custom modified mustang.
He is survived by his sister, Constance Cottrell; his children, Christine Taylor Pence (Rob Pence) and Cheryl Taylor Schurecht and his 9 grandchildren, Ashlee Taylor Schurecht, Charles Wayne Schurecht, Amanda Morgan Schurecht, Jackson Wayne Pence, Taylor Nicole Pence, Sydnee Rhian Pence, Addison Casey Pence, Dyson Robert Pence, and Dawson Clark Pence.
