Dr. William O. Malone, Jr., aged 63, tragically passed away on May 25, 2022 due to complications from heart surgery. Bill, originally from Grand Rapids, MI, was a long-time resident of the Tampa area. He graduated from Michigan State University and went on to continue his education at Southern California College of Optometry. He was a practicing optometrist at Anderson & Chhabra Eye Care Center for 20 years. His commitment and dedication to his patients made him an exceptional and beloved doctor.
Bill had a very active life. He was an excellent tennis player, skier, and golfer. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, reading, hiking, music and rock n’ roll concerts.
Bill’s greatest love was his two daughters. They were the joy of his life. He was so proud of their accomplishments and their individual uniqueness. He taught them to have passion for what they believe in, hard work, and resilience to overcome anything. He opened their eyes to the world through many travel and adventure experiences.
Bill is survived by his two daughters, Jenna and Julia, his sister Jeannie Boehne, his brother Bob Malone, and parents William O. Malone, Sr. and Judith Ann Malone. He also leaves behind his girlfriend, Monica Embree.
Bill felt strongly about ending gun violence. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to Everytown, an organization that educates the public about the detrimental effects of gun violence in the United States.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Blount & Curry Funeral Home, Carrollwood. The family will receive guests commencing at 12:00 PM with services at 1:00 PM. A memorial celebration will follow at 3:00 PM, Avila Golf & Country Club.
