Betty Lou Hodde, 83, of Hutto, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025. She was born July 17, 1942, in Taylor, Texas, to Alfred and Wilhelmina Preusse. Betty was blessed to share her life with her beloved husband, Fritz Hodde. Together, they enjoyed more than 62 years of marriage, filled with love, family, and music. Betty was Fritz’s biggest fan and most devoted supporter, standing proudly behind him as he shared his gift of polka music with so many. While Fritz Hodde & The Fabulous Six performed, Betty lovingly cared for their children at home during their younger years, attending many dances throughout the years as time allowed. She found joy in supporting his passion, and together they built a life enriched by the music they both loved. Betty’s favorite song was Fritz singing ‘Have I Told You Lately That I Love You’.
Betty always had her children at the forefront of her life. Later in life, her determination and dedication shone as she returned to school at the age of 52, earning her Bachelor of Science degree with pride. This remarkable achievement reflected her commitment to everything she did. Not long after, she enjoyed the privilege of a 28-year retirement, doing what she loved most: cherishing time with her family, delighting in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, catching up on her TV time, and, of course, keeping Fritz in line.
Betty was known for her kindness, smile, warmth, and steady strength. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She lived her life with grace and purpose, and her love for her family was the heart of everything she did. Betty is survived by her husband, Fritz; children and spouses Kimberly & Clint Hatchett, Tammy & Kenneth Cerny, Robin & Tim Mikulencak, and Scott & Diane Hodde; grandchildren Sharissa Mobley and Ryan Martinez, Bailey and Blain Bagley, Brandon Hodde, Callen and Mallory Mikulencak, Maegan Hodde and Mason Schnieder, and Shalyn Mobley and Trent Moore; great-grandchildren Chambree, Avery, and Brantley Hoffman; and her siblings and their spouses, Annette & Bill Kostroun, Sandra & Curtis Ruemke, Joyce & John Kubicek, Joann & John Pagach, and brother Garry Preusse; bothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Doris and Wilford Preusse and Larry and Rita Hodde; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, Alfred “Butch” Preusse, and her nephews, Garry “Bubba,” William, and Randy Preusse.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas, followed by funeral services on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock, Texas. Interment will take place at Taylor City Cemetery, Taylor, Texas. The family extends its gratitude to the Visiting Angels and hospice caregivers for their compassionate and caring support.
