Gilbert F. Moehnke

Gilbert was baptized and confirmed in West Taylor Immanuel Lutheran Church. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1958. He attended Texas State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in 1962 and later a Masters in Counseling degree. He taught math and coached track in Taylor ISD from 1962-1967. In 1967, he moved to Taft, Texas and taught math and was head track coach until 1974. During his 35 years of teaching, he also taught in Corpus Christi, Temple, Round Rock, and the final 11 years in Georgetown. He resided in Round Rock during the final 31 years of his life.

Gilbert is survived by his brother Larry Moehnke and his wife, Debbie of Harker Heights, Texas, two nephews Chris Moehnke of Austin and daughter Hannah, Craig Moehnke and wife Marcie of China Spring and children Brayden and Libbie, and one niece Brooke Toland and her husband Ian of Killeen and sons Daley and Tanner. He is also survived by a number of cousins and his close friend of many years, Frank Muehlbauer.

A graveside service will be held at 11a.m. on Saturday January 20, 2018 at the Taylor City Cemetery, 1101 E. 4th Street.
