

John “Rudy” Salazar passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 12, 2015 in the comfort of his home, after a 13 year battle with cancer. Rudy is preceded in death by his parents Martin Sr. and Luisa Salazar and his sister Sue Villareal. Rudy is survived by his loving wife Olga Salazar; two children Chris Salazar(Lacy Leschber) and Mary Salazar, six grandchildren Aaron Salazar, Nicholas Salazar, Lexus Mendez, Mario Mendez, Dawson Solis and Alexis Solis. He is also survived by his siblings; Martin Jr. & Francis Salazar, Joe Lee and Janie Salazar, Fidensio Sr. & Roseann Salazar, Robert & Stella Salazar, Alberta & Carmen Banda, Mary & Amador Dominguez, Patsy & Manuel Gonzalez, Gregory & Lee Ortiz, Raymond Salazar, Margaret Salazar and a brother in law Alex Villareal. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Rudy was born in the Thrall area where he lived most of his life. Rudy worked as maintenance/grounds keeper for Taylor ISD, YMCA R.R., and Thrall ISD, he also worked 17 years at American Desk. Rudy was known by many as “Grandpa” around Thrall ISD, he enjoyed and took pride in being the “Sheriff”/crossing guard for Thrall ISD. Rudy’s hobbies were cutting grass, watching TV, traveling, dancing, socializing and you could always find him at any Thrall sporting event. Rudy was a life member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Taylor, Texas. Since Rudy "bled purple" for the Thrall Tigers the family would like everyone attending the funeral to "bleed purple" in honor of Rudy's love for the Thrall Tigers and the small town of Thrall.
Visitation will be held on Friday August 14, 2015 from 6pm-8pm at Condra Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday August 15, 2015 at 10 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Taylor TX. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.
