Karl was born in Washington DC on 30 October 1955 To the late Ronald & Lillian Thompson. Karl started as a volunteer Firefighter in February of 1972. Karl graduated from Montgomery Community College with an Associate degree in Arts of Fire Science in 1978. Karl continued seeking degrees and graduated with his Masters of Public Administration from Barry University in 1991. He married Phyllis Thompson on August 11, 1979, in Taylor TX.
Karl worked as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Battalion Chief, Fire Instructor, and Fire Marshal for over 50 years. Karl enjoyed being part of multiple fire committees, writing about Fire History, spending time with his family, drinking coffee, smoking cigars, and recently feeding the deer behind his home.
Karl is survived by his wife Phyllis Thompson, sons Brian and Russell Thompson, sister Karen Gillium, daughter-in-law Angelica Thompson, and grandchildren Kinsley and Jacob Thompson.
The Funeral Home will be Condra Funeral Home in Taylor TX.
