Latrelle Holloman Neubauer passed from this life to the next at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday January 9th, 2019 having attained the “ripe old age” of 100 years and 8 months. Her daughter, Renetta Neubauer McCall was close at hand to ease her passing.
Latrelle was born to James Ernest Holloman and Lucy Blackwell Holloman on March 11, 1918 at home in Taylor, Williamson County, Texas. She graduated from Taylor High School in May 1935 and married Archibald (Archie) Neubauer on March 15, 1936.
Latrelle is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Archie, three sisters (Kate, Isabel and Ima) and three brothers (Forrest, Jake and Van). She is survived by her son, Bruce Keith Neubauer and her daughter, Renetta Neubauer McCall and her spouse Bobby D. McCall, several nieces and nephews and one grandson, Robert Edwin McCall and his spouse Morgan Wilks McCall. Robert was the “apple of her eye” and she aspired to live to see him graduate from high school. Not only did she attend his graduation from Iraan High in 2005, she lived 13 more years to see him graduate from Texas Tech University.
Latrelle was born into the storm of World War I and the Great Flu Epidemic. She survived the Great Depression and endured World War II with Archie serving in the South Pacific as a Fighting Seabee from 1942 to the end of the war in 1945. When he returned from the war their union produced two “baby boomers” In Bruce and Renetta.
Tempered by the tumultuous times, she led a full and fulfilling life. She was a homemaker, a trained beautician and also worked as a waitress. Latrelle was an accomplished bowler and a determined and dedicated mother to her children. She worked side by side with Archie in the theatre management business. After Archie passed in 1977, she determined to live life on her own terms and continued to thrive and watch her children complete college and become productive citizens.
She could be both outspoken and gentle. She would always tell you what she thought whether one wanted to hear it or not. Her gentle side was reserved for dear friends and family. After a period when she sparred with her son-in-law, they developed a mutual respect and love of each other with Bob sometimes referring to her as “the Wicked Witch of the West” and as she grew older he would reminder her that “only the good die young.” He later relented and noted some of the “Good” even live to 100+.
Ever practical, Latrelle left specific instructions for her passing. She was proud of her life and her family and wanted a simple graveside service.
Her earthly remains will be interred next to her husband and friend Archie in the Taylor City Cemetery on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, Latrelle requested her friends might contribute to a charity of their choice.
Rest In Peace, Latrelle as those who knew you celebrate a full life, well lived.
