

Calroy grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After high school, he was drafted into the US Army and served three years. At the completion of his service, he moved to New York where he played professional baseball and was eventually drafted by the Minnesota Twins. His baseball career ended due to health reasons. Calroy then went on to work for a brief time in a Nursing Home in the Bronx and ultimately retired from the US Postal Service. He was very athletic and religiously worked-out at the gym. He had a great sense of humor and was a loving family man. Calroy was also an accomplished cook who was famous for his Turkey Wings.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carol Bishop; sisters, Joan Robinson and Thelma Robinson; brothers, Kirk Bishop, Antonio Bishop and Hector Martinez; and stepfather, Hector Martinez.
Calroy is survived by his daughter, Celeste Bishop Grosvenor; brothers, Herbert Bishop, John Bishop, James Bishop, Keith Bishop, Irvin Bishop and Roberto Martinez; sisters, Angelica Wheatley, Sandra Hill, Donna Henderson, Modesta Martinez, Marguerita Martinez, Linda Martinez, Marilyn Martinez, Maritza Martinez, Carol Groce, Patrina Bishop and Erena Ludwig.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Deon Jacobs, Devan Jacobs, Tariq Grosvenor and Isaiah Bishop; and great-grandchildren, Cynaii Jacobs, Madyson Jacobs, Darius Jacobs, Grayson Jacobs and Denver Jacobs.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, September, 23, 2024 at Mt. Calvary Seventh-day Adventist Church, 4902 N. 40th Street, Tampa, FL 33610. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
