

Tayo moved to America in 1997 and attended Boston Latin School then later moved to Simon’s Rock College of Bard, Great Barrington, Massachusetts at the age of 14. Tayo got a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts, Concentrations: Music and Integrated Arts in 2004. In 2009, Tayo got a master's in Cultural Anthropology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, New Brunswick, New Jersey. In 2013, Tayo got a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology also from Rutger's University.
Tayo was a multi-disciplinary practitioner: a full-stack software engineer and cultural anthropologist with a background in performance and healing arts. Tayo worked in South Africa investigating the role of embodied performance within activist collectives opposing neoliberal state economic policies. Between 2009 and 2010, Tayo was in Johannesburg pursuing fieldwork with a social movement organization, investigating its internal dynamics and public contestations through a performance lens. Tayo taught at the following universities: Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ (2011 - 2013), University of California, Merced, CA (2013 - 2015), and University of South Florida, Tampa, FL (2015 - 2021). Tayo was also an active Yoga Instructor at Bella Prāṇa Collective, Tampa, FL.
Tayo leaves to cherish memories: father, mother, brother, sister, niece, uncles, aunties, and beloved friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Noon, Monday, November 8, 2021, at Blount and Curry, Terrace Oaks Chapel, Temple Terrace, followed by interment at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Tampa.
