

After graduating from Baraboo High School in 1957, Richard went on to serve his country for over half of his life. He served in the United States Air Force from 1957-1961; the United States Department of the Air Force from 1965-1987 and the United States Department of the Army from 1987-2006.
Richard enjoyed the outdoors where he would take his sons hunting and fishing and take family camping trips in North Dakota and throughout Europe. He was a member of multiple bowling leagues, enjoyed gardening and tending to flowers and drinking beer. He also loved watching football and for many years he ran the family football pool.
He liked to travel as he lived in Europe for 27 years and traveled to many different countries. Bravely, Richard solely took his four children, ranging in age from 10-17 years old, and moved to Germany, where he and his children would go on volksmarches.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael Sorg; and siblings, Gary, Russell and Penny Sorg.
Survivors include his loving wife of 22 years, Alla Sorg; sons, Scott Sorg (Lori-Anne) and Pat Sorg (Sheri); daughter, Laura McAnally (Danny); sisters, Sandy Stubbendick (Steve) and Patricia Brown; grandchildren, Sarah Cunningham (Jonathan), Jenie Sorg, Abby McAnally and Katie McAnally; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Oscar, Isaiah, Halie, Alexis, Ritchie, Jonathan and Zakarie; and great-great-grandchild, Selena.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sunset Memory Gardens, 11005 US-301, Thonotosassa, FL 33592.
