I have known our sister  Denye almost all my life, from the time I was probably a toddler to just a couple of years ago when I returned back to Ethiopia. I can never remember her without her constant smile, kind words and her saintly demeanor which eventually led her to become Emahoy. I have followed her by phone since her diagnosis of the illness that eventually took her life. She was never deterred by her illness from her usual kindnesses and gracefulness. 

Denye lived like a saint and died like a saint. She lived a long life on this earth and is now in heaven looking down at us with her usual smile. We grieve for her, but, she is in a better place. Because of this let us not be overwhelmed by a great sorrow and send her to her deserved kingdom of heaven because we are going to miss her and not because where she went. She has been preparing for this transition by becoming a nun like those who preceded her in our family. Farewell our dear sister, Rest In Peace, until we meet again.

Kind Deniye was like a second mother to me when I first moved to Canada by receiving me into her home and treated me as one of her children. Alem and I will never forget what she had done for our wedding. We will miss her. Our love and prayers to all family.

💐I remember when I first met her as a Emahoy, how happy she was and peaceful. She told me that she has been waiting for this since her husband died. She always had a smile on her face and you can sense hear smile talking to her on the phone. She will be missed by me and many others. May she rest in perpetual peace. Adieu Deniye.
