

Born in Berry, Alabama, she was one of eight children of the late Gus and Matilda Nichols. She graduated from Jasper, Alabama High School and attended Freed Hardeman College. There she met her future husband, W.T. Hamilton, who preceded her in death in 1986.
She was an avid artist, specializing in oil painting. She served as president of the Ellis County Art Association and was named as artist of the month on several occasions. She had a fondness for Chihuahua dogs.
She was a very faithful and active member of churches of Christ. Her husband, her father, all of her brothers, most of her brother-in-laws, her son, and her grandson all are preachers for the church. She herself was a frequent speaker and teacher for Ladies meetings and Bible classes, having spoken in several states on college lectureships.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Scott and husband Ron of Temple; a son, Nick and his wife Kathy Belle of Little Rock, AR; by grandchildren David Scott (Whitney) of Carthage, MO, Dana White of Temple, TX, Monica (Truitt) Hagan of Chicago, IL, Rachel (Matt) Wilson of Farmington, AR, and Sharon (Stewart) Deere of Sherwood, AR. She also had one deceased grandchild, Rebekah Bell Hamilton. She also is survived by great grandchildren, Emma and Ben Scott, Rian, Rhea Ann, and Reid White, and Madeleine, Harrison, and Charlotte Wilson. She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Bertha Blackwood of Jasper, AL, two brothers, Flavil Nichols of Huntsville, AL and Hardeman Nichols of Dallas, TX. She has several surviving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Brown Street Church of Christ in Waxahachie, TX on Saturday, May 5th at 1 pm with her son, Nick and her brother, Hardeman Nichols officiating.
Private burial will be in Dallas.
A time of visitation will be this evening from 6 to 8 pm at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple.
