Helen Gutierrez, of Temple, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born on January 14, 1944, to her parents Pauline Martinez and Jimmie Hollan. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Grace Aguirre.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 58 years of marriage, Rudy Gutierrez Jr. of Karnes City; her sister Alice Cantu (Lorenzo), loving daughters Grace Gutierrez (Paul), Jessica Ward (Tim), and Alice Patton (Rob); and her cherished grandchildren, Austin Rudy, Noah Ryder, and Rosalie Moon. She is also remembered by many extended family members and friends who loved her dearly.
A private and caring soul, she lived her life centered around her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy came from time spent with her loved ones. Always focused on her family first, she took great pride in ensuring that all three of her daughters pursued higher education and earned advanced degrees. Known for her exceptional cooking, timeless sense of style, and warm, welcoming presence, she made everyone feel loved and at a home.
Throughout her life, she shared adventures with her high school sweetheart, living across South and Central Texas and in Tennessee before settling in Temple for the past 17 years. She found joy in music—especially Elvis and the oldies—and had a passion for antique furniture and decor, movies, and making things beautiful.
There will be no formal funeral service, but a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor her memory. The family extends sincere gratitude to the Baylor Scott and White Hospital oncology and hospice teams who cared for her, especially Dr. Timothy McCormick and nurse Tina.
She will be remembered for her grace, strength, and the deep love and devotion she poured into her family every day.
