She was born on February 19, 1922 to Dave and Belle Gideon in Vermillion County. Alene graduated Glenn High School. She was one of the last two graduates surviving from the class of 1939.
Alene was married for 64 years to the love of her life, Carl R. Baum, Sr.
She was an avid reader and loved to do embroidery work. Alene and her husband, Carl, traveled extensively for many years, including 12 trips to Hawaii. Alene and her husband were both members of Maplewood Christian Church for many years.
She was dearly loved by her family.
She is proceeded in death by her Husband, one Son, Mark Allen Baum Sr.; one grandson, Phillip Smith; and sisters, Imogene Collier, Elsie Stephanie, and Doris Belcher. Alene is survived by her three Sons, Carl Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii; Von, Sr., Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Robert Ray, Sr. (Faith), Terre Haute, Indiana; two Daughters, Carol Baker (Lawrence), Worthington, Indiana and Joyce Wallace, Terre Haute, Indiana. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 8 great, great grandchildren.
A private family service has been scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley or Terre Haute Bible Center.
