Obituary of Barbara May Harlan
Barbara May Harlan, 75, passed unexpectedly from this world to the next on March 2nd 2019 at Cape Coral Hospital. Barbara had been a resident of Cape Coral, FL for the past 18 years. Barbara was born to the late Bill and Lorene Catte of Terre Haute, IN on May 17, 1943. She was predeceased by her loving Husband, Don Harlan of Terre Haute, IN and also older brother Bill Catte and sister Eileen Brossman. Barbara is survived by her brother, Butch (Peggy) Catte of Terre Haute, IN, son John Shipman also of Terre Haute IN, and daughters Dawn (Scott) Leonard of Elkhart IN, and Traci (David) Meissel of Terre Haute IN. Family members from Indiana joined Barb’s devoted friend and companion, Harold (Ron) Jones, of Cape Coral FL, at her bedside. She was surrounded by her loved ones. Barb’s greatest joy in life was her children and grandkids. She was a proud Mom and Grandmother. Her son, daughters, grandchildren and sons-in-law meant the world to her. Grandchildren Hali, Lindsey, Logan, and Tanner adored her and she loved being involved in all of their activities. Barb loved living in Florida. Reading a good book in the shade of a palm tree in her lanai was a favorite pastime. Her Hoosier relatives would often receive highly detailed and unsolicited Florida weather reports. Usually just reports of warm temps and pleasant sunshine. Most notably received when a polar vortex or blizzard was settled in over the Midwest. Barb was a special lady who will be missed terribly by those of us who were fortunate enough to know her. It is a great comfort to know that she is now at peace and surrounded by loved ones in heaven. Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Richmond officiating. Barbara will be laid to rest in Roselawn Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
