Beth Jayne Van Ness

Beth Van Ness 86, a longtime resident of Terre Haute, passed away Thursday January 22, 2026, surrounded by love and family. She was born on July 10, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Gerald Buchanan and Elizabeth Montgomery Tell.

Beth was the beloved wife of Burnett Van Ness III and a devoted mother whose life centered on her family. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Blevins, and her four children: Michael Van Ness, David Van Ness and his wife Christi, Amy O’Leary, and Andrew Van Ness.

Beth was a proud grandmother to seven grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Benjamin and Zachary Van Ness, Haley Van Ness, Caitlyn Dempsey and Jacob O’Leary and was also blessed with great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and purpose. Her greatest accomplishment and pride was her family, whom she supported with unwavering love, strength, and dedication.

Known for her steady presence and deep commitment to those she loved, Beth built a life rooted in family and community. Her many years in Terre Haute were marked by a legacy of care through her long-time work with the residents of Westminster Village.

She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

A small service will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 7500 N Clinton Street, Terre Haute, Indiana on Saturday January 31st, 2026 at 2:00 pm followed by a private burial service.
