

Carl White, 89, of Terre Haute passed away January 6th, 2016 in Clinton Gardens Retirement Home, Clinton, Indiana. He was born September 29th, 1926 to Alfred and Eliza White in Sullivan County. Carl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to go fishing and taking care of his beloved wife, Tomiko. Carl and Tomiko loved the ocean and lived several retirement years in Panama City, Florida, only to return to Terre Haute in 1999. Carl retired from CF Industries and the U.S. Army as a sergeant. His military career took him to many locations. He met his wife, Tomiko, while stationed in Japan, where his son “Paul” was born. In his earlier years, Carl always had a prized garden to share with his neighbors in the Terre Town area. He loved hunting mushrooms and fishing with a passion.
Carl is survived by his son Paul White and wife, Verna, of Rosedale, Indiana. He has one granddaughter Rae Jean, who also lives in Rosedale. Carl grew up in the Fairbanks/ West Terre Haute area. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews of his many siblings.
Funeral Services for Carl have been scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 pm at Mattox-Wood funeral Home with a visitation prior from 11:00 am- 1:00pm. Reverend Larry Lily will be officiating. Carl will be laid to rest in Pleasant View Cemetery.
