Catherine Burgess

Catherine Ann Burgess, 54, of Clay City, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014, at St. Vincent Clay Medical Center. She was born on June 6, 1959, in Terre Haute, to Jesse Williams and Lee Annette Myers. She married Michael Burgess in 1994.

Catherine loved roses, especially rose gardening. Her favorite time of the year was fall. She always looked forward to the Covered Bridge Festival and yard sales. Catherine was soft-hearted, especially for cats. She was an avid collector of turtles. She was a kind, loving person and will be truly missed.

Catherine is survived by her husband of 19 years, Michael Burgess of Clay City; sons, David Scott Stewart of Michigan and Joshua Michael Burgess of Clay City; father, Jesse Williams and his wife Beverly of Terre Haute; mother, Lee Annette Dabbs of Prunedale, CA; identical twin sister with whom she shared a special bond, Christy E. Russell and her husband Stephen of Shippensburg, PA; sister Linda L. Stewart and her husband Robert of Marina, CA; brothers, Larry L. Williams and his wife Suzie of Marina, CA, and Steven D. Norton and his wife Sandra of San Diego, CA; one uncle, Joe Williams of Clarksville, In; one aunt, Joan Graves of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Stewart; and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18 at Abundant Life Worship Center in Clay City. Another memorial service is planned for October 2014.
