Catherine Janice Haverkamp

Catherine was an avid reader, she loved her cats and Nascar, and she was a graduate of State Laboratory High school Class of 1956. After high school, she worked as a bookkeeper at Eastern Express. She was bookkeeper for Newport Hill Climb and the Newport Lions Club, and a member of Newport United Methodist Church for 51 years. Catherine retired from the Welfare office of Newport, Indiana.

She is survived by her children, Janeane Curley and her husband Daniel, Amy Phillips and her husband Carl. She is also survived by a sister, Deanna Rea Champer Lammey and husband Donald Lee Lammey; a brother John Dennis Champer and wife Jeanne Champer; grandchildren, Hanna, Connor and Layne Curley, Kelli Phillips Denny and husband Amos, and Kenneth Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Haverkamp and her parents, Gerald and Hazel. Services will be Monday at 12:30PM at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home with the visitation Monday from 10:30 AM till 12:30 PM. Officiating will be Rev. Jon Overbey with burial to follow at Clearview Cemetery in Brazil,IN.
