Obituary of Cathy Banta
Cathy Sue Banta, 59, of Terre Haute, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 18, 1959, in Vigo County to Kenneth Morris and Barbara Ileene (Alkire) Rogers. Cathy is survived by her husband of 30 years, Terry Banta of Terre Haute; brothers, Kenny Rogers of Seelyville, David Rogers and wife Sandy of West Terre Haute, Danny Rogers and wife Tina of West Terre Haute, Keith Rogers and wife Sandy of Illinois; sisters, Sherry Wheeler of West Terre Haute, Brenda Finley of West Terre Haute, and Norma Vaughn and husband Ron of Terre Haute; brother-in-law, Glenn Banta and wife Nora of Terre Haute; many nieces and nephews; and last, but not least, her beloved furbabies, Princess and Daisy. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Loretta Rose Banta; father-in-law, Herbert Banta; and brother-in-law, Don Brown. On August 3, 1978, fate led a sweet, nineteen year old Cathy to the corner of 25th and Wabash, where she met a slightly older daredevil with a motorcycle, Terry Banta. Cathy easily won over Terry’s heart with coffee and a meal at Denny’s. The pair quickly became inseparable. Cathy and Terry finally tied the knot after Terry’s fool-proof proposal at the Terre Haute Bowling Center. They were married on August 13, 1988. Cathy was, and will always be, Terry’s “Baby Doll.” Cathy worked the night shift as a baker and cashier at Casey’s on Third and Hulman. She enjoyed bowling. Cathy loved to play bingo, especially with her sister, Brenda. Cathy and Brenda were the notorious “Bingo Bandits.” Cathy was a kind, loving woman that always looked out for and protected others. She will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday, February 4 at Bethel Church, 3001 Maple Ave., Terre Haute. Roselawn Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
