Delila Kay Carter

Kay was born on December 31, 1938 in Vermillion County, Indiana to Wallace and Gladys Newell Whitford.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Richard Carter, Sr.; siblings, Wallace Whitford, Brad Whitford, Joyce Lovellette, Beverly Cummins, and infant sister Birdie Lou Whitford; a grandson, Jason Fell and twin granddaughters, Baylee and Miranda Hamblen.

Surviving are her children, Rhonda Chilton and husband Chuck, Sue Cundiff and husband Tom, Donna Flynn and husband, Smokey, Rick Carter. Sheila Schroer and husband Rob, Bruce Carter and wife Mollie, Randy Carter and companion Susie Kraemer, and Kristi Carter; a sister, Darlene Hazard; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and an extended family.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 1 PM at Mattox – Wood Funeral Home, with Pastor Merrill Weir officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11 AM until time of services at the funeral home.

Kay will be fondly remembered for taking care of her family and her love of flowers.
