Dorothy Staggs

Dorothy V. Staggs, 92, of Terre Haute, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at 2:52 p.m. She was born Jan. 14, 1920, to Alvurtis Bogard and Ollie Mae (Wilson) Bogard. Dorothy was a member at First Congregational Church; there she was a part of the Woman’s Guild. She enjoyed her pets and knitting.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glen Staggs; daughter, Sue Mista; stepson, Ron Staggs; one brother and five sisters.

She is survived by granddaughter, Connie Sue Mista of St. Augustine, Fla.; stepdaughter, Donna Shewmaker; stepgrandchildren, Alicia Carpenter and Joe Staggs; sister, Betty Frazier; nephew, Ronald Reeves; nieces, Carol Bowman, Betty Marie Schneider, and Ruth “Mickey” Kennedy; one great-nephew; two great-nieces; several great-great-grandchildren, great-great nieces and great-great-nephews; and special friends, Kathy Cavanaugh, and Betty and Fred Swanson.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Callahan-DeBaun Funeral Home, 2425 Wabash Ave. The Rev. Dawn Carlson will be officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Congregational Church, the Humane Society, or a charity of choice.
