

Edgar C. Cox, 90 of Terre Haute, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2017. He was born in West Terre Haute, Indiana to Beulah and Clarence Cox on July 20, 1926. Only shortly after graduation, he answered his country’s call to serve in World War II. He returned home to begin his long career at Terre Haute Gas Company. He began his career digging ditches and had accomplished to the position of President by the time he retired after 43 years.
In his free time, Edgar enjoyed bowling, golfing, and what seemed like a chore to many, Edgar turned cutting grass into a hobby. He was a member of the Masons, even earning the Scottish Rite. He also attended Union Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 47 years, Mary, and his daughter, Linda Miller.
His survivors include his son, Edward J. Cox and his wife, Barbara, and his daughter, Janet Roach and her husband, Wayne. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rod Maris officiating. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Edgar’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
