He was born on May 26, 1935 in Diamond, Indiana to Andrew and Elsie (Philabaum) Mager. George retired from IBM in Tucson, Arizona in May of 1993 and spent twenty-four years of retirement in Vail.
He was a member of the local American Legion post 109, Moose Lodge, Elks and a member of the Masonic Temple.
George married Waneta Alexander on December 24, 1954 and she preceded him in death in March of 1991. He was also proceeded in death by his parents; son, Mark; brothers, William, Larry, Richard and James; and sister, Ruth.
George is survived by his sons, George of Phoenix, Arizona, Jeff of Indianapolis, Indiana and Matt of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brothers, Robert of Rockville, Indiana, Perry and Leonard of Rosedale, Indiana; sister, Shirley of Carbon, Indiana; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at noon, on Saturday, November 11 at Friendly Grove Baptist Church.
