Obituary of George Gabriel Nagy
George Gabriel Nagy Jr, 91, completed his life journey on Friday, September 18, 2020. He would tell all that he had a great life. George was an inspiration to all that knew him, as he did not let his blindness stop him from trying and doing just about anything. He was always thinking of ways he could help others. George is survived by his wife, Margaret (Peggy) Harvey Power Nagy, whom he was married to for over 60 years. They have 3 children, Robert Power of Harvest, AL, Larry Power and wife Sue of St. Louis, MO, and Sherri Anderson and husband Scott of Terre Haute, IN. He has 7 grandchildren, Christopher Power, Pamela Ferrara, Robert A. Power, Jessica Ketcham, Bryan Power, Jeffrey Anderson and Aaron Anderson; as well as 17 great-grandchildren. George has 3 surviving siblings, Steve Nagy, Ruth Kelley and Martha (Dolly) Shell (all of Clinton); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 5 siblings, Jolan Veres, Mary Uselman, Otto Nagy, Margaret Neal, and Elsie Nagy. He loved his wife and family more than anything. George was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Disabled American Veterans. George enlisted in the Navy when he was 17 and was a proud WWII veteran. George was born March 1, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan. Per George's request, there will be a private graveside service. A memorial celebration will be planned by the family, once the pandemic is over. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and caregivers at Union Hospital and Westminster Village for their tremendous kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a donation in his memory to Alzheimer's Association or the Disabled American Veterans organization.
