Obituary of Guy Alan Bruce
Guy Alan Bruce, 73, of Terre Haute, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 7, 1947, in Terre Haute to Herbert Vincent George Bruce and Ada May (Stedman) Bruce. He married Karen Johnson on March 28, 1966. Guy is survived by his daughter, Dawn Michelle Vasquez and husband David of Terre Haute; son, Scott Alan Bruce and wife Amy of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Caleb Bruce, Caitlyn Bruce, Jared Vasquez, and Samantha Mowery and husband Stew; great-grandchildren, Adrianna Bell and Chosen Ellington; a sister, Diana Dwyer of Terre Haute; a brother, George Bruce, Jr. and wife Barb of Ft. Wayne; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, Karen Bruce; grandson, David Shawn Vasquez, Jr; twin granddaughters, Brittney and Brandon Marquis; and a sister, Deborah Morales. Guy graduated from Gerstmeyer High School in 1965. He proudly served in the United States Army. He worked for 18 years at CF Industries and at Bemis for 25 years, retiring in 2012. Guy enjoyed being highly organized, from his stamp collection to the manuals that came with the tools and electronics he bought over the years. An eye for detail, he liked to make sure things were done right the first time. He loved helping his kids with home improvement projects, especially if there was a problem to solve. Guy enjoyed riding roller coasters. He and Karen loved to bowl, travel, and play cards and games together. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with family. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 16 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home with Pastor Scott Gerger officiating.
