Harvey Warren Wilson

Harvey "Bud" Warren Wilson departed this life peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, surrounded by his friends and family at the Hospice of the Wabash Valley at Union Hospital. He was born on Sept. 16, 1944, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Alcie and Velma (Norris) Wilson. Bud was a retired veteran. He enlisted in the Marines as a young man but found his home in the United States Army. Bud made the Army his life and career, serving our country proudly in the Vietnam War. Bud retired from the Army as a chief warrant officer after 23 years of service. He was a kind and generous man, kindhearted in nature but strong in heart. Bud also served his community as a foster parent. He loved the children he fostered and made a difference in all their lives. Bud also had a love for racing. He enjoyed watching weekend cup races. He was also a member of the Murdock Auto Racing Club, where he enjoyed his friends, family and their mutual love for racing. Bud was survived by his wife of 47 years, Carole Lee (Sweet) Wilson; his daughter, Shana Ann Wilson; his stepdaughter, Stephanie Renea Bradford; two grandsons, Zachary K. Beeler and Rusty A. Beeler; his great-granddaughter, Sophia G. Beeler; his sister, Connie Wilson (Jack) Berry; and his brother, Alcie "Allen" Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Raymond Wilson; and his sisters, Rose Wilson Stanley, Shirley Wilson Archer and Judy A. Wilson Johnson Smith. Visitation will be Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Billy Joe Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park with the Krietenstein American Legion Post 104 presenting military honors along with the Army. A celebration of life will be held at Rod and Gun Steakhouse following burial. A covered dish is appreciated and may be dropped off at Rod and Gun after 9 a.m. The family wishes to extend their sincerest thank-you and gratitude for all who have given their condolences and those who visited him in his last days. We would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses and Great Lakes Hospice for taking such excellent care of Bud during his final days. They treated Bud and our family with love and kindness.
