He always said that you may never be the best at what you do, but try your best to be your best! He was an outstanding athlete and a proud member of the Gerstmeyer Black Cats from 1951-1954 where he and his teammates played in 2 State High School Basketball Finals, finishing 2nd in 1953 and losing to Milan H.S. in 1954. Jack was also an outstanding baseball player as well. Jack was a volunteer coach at the 16th and Chase Little League where many players benefited from his knowledge and teaching of the game. He also coached for 46 years at the T.H. Boys Club where he received numerous awards for his service. If you look at the number of boys whose lives were enriched by his coaching it is truly amazing. He worked at Visqueen Corp., Anaconda Aluminum and for the Vigo County School Corporation. A true handyman, he could fix anything and many times did it just to help someone for a simple thank you.
