John Samuel DeLisle

John Samuel DeLisle, 80, of Terre Haute, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born Dec. 22, 1937, in Vincennes, to Admiral D. DeLisle and Susan (Craddock) DeLisle.
John retired from Poff's Sporting Goods after 25 years of service. He was well known in the bowling community as a bowler and from drilling bowling balls. He bowled professionally on tour. He bowled multiple 300 games plus 700 series and 800 series in his career. He was a member of the Bowling Hall of Fame as well as a member of the Horseshoe Club. He loved pitching horseshoes, golfing, and fishing.
John is survived by his wife of 38 years, Sherry (Blue) DeLisle; one brother-in-law, David Moore; cousins, Dennis (Shiela) Brown, Jim Brown, and Rick (Chris) Brown; his children, Suzettea Jones (Mike), Debbie Walters (Jay), Keith Mowbray, Annette DeLisle, Jeff Mowbray (Susan), Brian Mowbray, John DeLisle and Jerry DeLisle (Judy); 21 grandchildren, Chris Couchman, Tasha Carson, Eric Jones (Krysten), Andrew Couchman (Kristin), Jennifer Mowbray-Burnett, William Ross, Joseph Jones, Brandalynn Belleu (George), John Michael DeLisle (Shelley), Meghan Mowbray, Cassandra Mowbray, Daniel DeLisle (Kaylee), Tameka Anderson, Devin Anderson, Ellie Walters, Cameron Walters and Nikki, Tommy, Zane, Zeke and Zack Jones; and 23 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Conrad DeLisle, Suzanne Stein and Bernard DeLisle; and one child, Theriesa DeLisle.
Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, from 4 until 8 p.m. and Monday Feb. 12, 2018, from noon until 1 p.m. at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, 2018, with burial to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Online condolences can be made at: www.mattoxwood.com.
