Obituary of Lanny Ray Snow
Lanny Ray Snow, 76, of Rosedale, IN passed away July 9, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving wife of 57 years and family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia, and Cancer. He was born February 21, 1943 in Brazil, IN to Agnes Marie Webster Snow and David Cleaster Snow. On June 24, 1962, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Margaret Jane Lawhorn Snow of Fontanet. Lanny graduated from Fontanet High School in 1961. He promptly enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country honorably from 1961-1965. He felt fortunate to have traveled to many countries around the world and was actively involved in the Bay of Pigs Crisis. He was employed at C. F. Industries for 22 years during which he worked his way up to the position of shift supervisor. When the company closed in 1987, Lanny took a position at Bemis in the converting department. He retired from Bemis in 2009. From an early age Lanny loved being outside. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and wood working. He loved his garden and working with his hands. He was an avid reader and loved history. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and experienced many adventures together and with their family. After his retirement Lanny’s illnesses made it very difficult for them to travel alone. During this time, they cherished vacations with their close friends and neighbors of 46 years, Betty and Fred Gum. Lanny was known by all to be very honest and loyal. He was generous with his time and abilities, spending a significant portion of his life helping his family, friends, and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Agnes Snow; two brother-in-laws Mark Pflueger and Clifford Anderson; two nieces Leslie Pflueger and Melanie Brookshire; and a great nephew Justin Snow.
