

Lena Beatrice (Hamilton) Poole, born the 26th day of September, 1925, in Marseilles, Illinois, to the late George H. and Thelma (Sims) Hamilton, went to be with the Lord this 13th day of May, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence B. Poole, daughter Bonita Louise Poole, sister Theresa Swift, grandson Danny Reynolds, and nephew Jay Swift.
Lena was a long time member of the North Terre Haute Christian Church. Lena also taught cake decorating for years, made numerous wedding cakes, ran in several “Fast Track Mile” races, and was known as the “Ice Cream Lady” to several of her great-grandchildren. She was known locally for her homemade noodles, was a member of the Burnett Home Ec Club, and did volunteer work at the Hamilton Mental Health Center and McMillan Adult Day Care Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl and husband Charles Cassidy, son Larry and wife Donna Poole, grandchildren Shannon and husband Jonathan Fox, Brent and wife Michelle Poole, Eric Poole, and Adam and wife Emily Poole. Great-grandchildren are Madison Burt, Alex, Samantha, and Andrew Poole, Caleb and Olivia Poole, Ethan, Ayden, and Ella Poole, Isabella and Liam Fox, Levi Reynolds, and Zachary Miller. Lena is also survived sisters, Catherine Gobin of Terre Haute, Thelma DeLisle of Michigan, and brother George Hamilton of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held from 11 to 1 on Friday, May 16 at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Friday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Coyle officiating.
