IN THE CARE OF
Mattox-Wood Funeral Home
Marjorie Rose (Garrett) Steadman, 93, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on March 9, 2021. She was born on July 27, 1927, to Elmer and Sarah (Peters) Garrett. On June 23, 1945, Marjorie married the love of her life, Archie R. Steadman.
She is survived by her four children, Sue Ann (Kenny) Wilson, Jerry Lee (Mary) Steadman, Robert Allen (Shelly) Steadman, and Pamela Rose Coston; along with 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Marjorie previously worked at MAB, Quaker Maid for "The Best Boss," Sebert McCullough, and various other places. Marjorie loved to bowl and was an avid bingo player. Playing bingo quickies every Saturday at Post 346, with her girls, was one of her favorite hobbies.
In her younger years, she enjoyed canning tomatoes, baking bread on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with her mother. She spoiled her grandchildren by having them over before school to make them breakfast. Whatever they wanted, she made for them. Saturdays were grilled cheese and one pop for all the grandkids, as well as every weekday, and lunch was grilled cheese. Marjorie was known for making her famous pies for Thanksgiving and Christmas. One Christmas included a bake-off that yielded 50 pies. All her life she loved, listened, and advised all of us. She will be missed by many and very much loved by all.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Archie; son, Archie W. Steadman; grandson, Randy Steadman; and her brother, Elmer Garrett Jr. (Buddy).
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 12, 2021, at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Mattox-Wood Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences can be made at www.mattoxwood.com
