Mildred H. Thomas

Mildred H. Thomas, 91, passed away Saturday April 14, 2018 surrounded by her family. She was born September 30, 1926 in Roanoke, Virginia to Roy and Virginia (Ayers) Overstreet. Mildred retired from her job at Eli Lilly in Roanoke, Virginia. She loved going to church, doing community service, going to the beach, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; daughter, Peggy Trainor; son-in-law, Roger; son, Paul; great-great grandson, Noah; and her faithful dog companion, Snowflake. Mildred is survived by four grandchildren, Roger (Christy) Trainor, Teresa Smith, Barbara Trainor (James Pifer), and William “Jason” Trainor; five great-grandchildren, Daniel, Nicole (Josh), Tyler, Taylor, and Tara Ann; a very special niece, Barbara Lester and many other nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to all the nursing home staff at Meadows Manor North for all their love and care they have provided over the years. A viewing will be held Monday April 16, 2018 from 4:00pm-6:00pm at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home. Her final resting place will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke, Virginia.
